about

The Himalaya - abode of the Gods.

This recording takes us on a trek through a spectacular landscape of steep valleys, high meadows, mountain streams and ancient forests of oak and rhododendron

Bulbulls call cheerily as we begin our journey, ascending through hill villages. The roar of distant streams echoes across the valleys. We then enter dense oak forests - a hidden world of majestic trees hung with epiphytic mosses. Under their shady leaves, a myriad of small, exotic birds call and flutter about; Yuhinas, Sibias, Fulvetas and Laughing Thrushes.

Crossing clear mountain streams, we finally arrive at a high meadow among colourful rhododendron bushes. The calls of upland birds hang in the frosty air - birdsong at the roof of the world.
