It is late spring in a Scandinavian woodland, and the still, morning air pulsates with a rich dawn chorus.

In the half light around 3am, the early chorus is dominated by thrushes; song thrushes, blackbirds and redwings call from forest undergrowth and tree canopies. Drifting across the waters of a nearby lake are heard the voices of black-throated divers and distant whooper swans. Later, other forest birds join the morning chorus, including the lyrically-voiced blackcap.

The delicate birdsong of this album evokes the renewal of the European spring.
